Their words...our rationale

Being Australian for kids

young people are our future

Being Australian is more than just an encyclopaedia of experiences: it is a virtual gallery of the Australian psyche giving people a way to connect with others and what they are thinking and feeling as a result of what they are experiencing.

Being Australian lets people share snatches of real life as it occurs for them no matter who they are or where they live.

Their experiences combine to form a national mosaic of 'Australian experiences'.

When the number of submissions reaches a critical mass, Being Australian will transform the collection in its entirety into a permanent audiovisual gift to Australians of future generations so that they may see how life was witnessed and experienced by us in our time.

This is why Being Australian says, "Everyone matters!" because everyone's stories matter. Be part of it. Get involved, share your story, have some fun discovering and sharing and make your mark for future generations.

Being Australian in the classroom

There's no better teacher than life experience.

Bringing real life to the classroom in bite-size amountsBeing Australian offers educators an exciting, relevant and powerful new way to bring real life into classrooms throughout Australia and around the world.

The diagram shows how Being Australian dovetails with core subjects in Australian classrooms including the Virtues Project.

Real life through real people's eyes can deliver knowledge and wisdom for young people who are the future of the Australian community.

This is why Being Australian encourages you to share experiences that feel 'Australian'.

Your experiences, no matter how small, could transform a young person's outlook on life in extraordinary ways.
