Just as Antonín Dvorák captured early American life with his Symphony
of the New World over 150 years ago, so the score for Being Australian captures
life in Australia as it is experienced by people who live here and by visitors and travellers alike.
Hauntingly evocative, this world-class musical work for orchestra with instrumentals will reflect the wonder, drama, humour and poignancy of life in Australian contexts captured in people's experiences using variations on one of Australia's most treasured and stirring melodies.
The composer/s selected for this project, along with the entire creative team, will be working exclusively with images and anecdotes provided by you through this Being Australian web site.
The brief for the creative team: to produce an original symphonic work based exclusively on submissions to Being Australian. In this way, the music and imagery bring to life emotions and sensations arising from people's actual experiences.
Three distinguished Australian composers have provided in-principle endorsement for Being Australian's plans. So, get involved - your stories and pictures will be seen by the music team selected for this project.
