My son bought some chocolate honeycomb 'squares' from an expensive outlet in our area. On sampling the product, he found the taste was EXACTLY the same as the famous Violet Crumble product. I tried a piece of the product, and agreed with my son. Is it possible that another company can exactly copy the taste of the Violet Crumble right down to the nnnnnnth degree, or are they buying the product and repackaging it as their own product? Another possibility is that the chocolate manufacturer is owned by the same company that makes Hoadley's Violet Crumble, now owned by Nestle'.
A trip down to the local supermart found Violet Crumble pieces on sale for $6.00 per 410 grams. The chocolate honeycomb pieces from the specialty chocolate outlet are, wait for it, $15.00 per 500 grams.
