Foggy Moments

an experience of everyday life

I was born in Australia, background is Chinese. Me and my family were going on holidays, what a typical family would be doing, unfortunately we were late to depart because a family friend couldn't arrive on time.

We departed 2 hours the normal time, drove in 2 separate cars at around 8pm and set off to Nowra (Bomaderry) 3 hours away from Sydney.

When we reached a mountain, the skies were black and it was freezing which meant a great amount of fog. there were a few cars on the road at around 10pm that night. it was so foggy that you couldn't see anything, but only 1-2 metres of the ground, and following the square reflective lights on the ground.

Then those warning lights on the cars kept flashing, i asked mum and she said there was more fog coming up and put her lights on to warn others. then everyone started to do that.

Although it was part of a safety rule for driving I thought that no matter what background we were it was demonstrated that we helped each other. That moment for me was amazingly beautiful and I nearly wanted to cry.
