Community protest, Double Bay NSW

an experience of everyday life

It's a sign of the times in Australia when more and more communities find themselves compelled to protest government decision-making. In a Sydney suburb recently, people who wouldn't normally consider themselves politically active came together to register concern and fears of yet another highrise commercial development right in their front yard. Is community democracy dead if the community's will is discarded? People at this rally certainly seemed to think so.
