We are many, but we are still one an experience of everyday life Whilst surfing the internet today for current news I stumbled across many pages that seemed to focus on racism, social prejudice and the stifling of others beliefs along with murders, gang wars, thefts and rape to name a few.   Although every country does indeed have these, and sadly to say I'm sure it will be around for a long time, it made me question why there is all this open hate for our fellow man? It made me wonder what kind of world is out there where people openly criticize others for the color of their skin or the beliefs in which they follow, some going as far to even develop a party to 'Control' these people.   This made me realize that living in Australia is one of the greatest gifts I could have ever received. I was born into a country of equal rights, free speech, a decent education, good values and a country that allows for me to become who I want and achieve anything I set my mind too. I pride myself knowing that I live in the 'Great Southern Land' and am happy to be a part of a community that doesn't look down on others with disgust or loathing, 'coz really that's just downright un-Australian. Rather, we as a country have developed a strong a sense of community, that focuses on family, mates and a value for life.   Australia is the largest multicultural society in the world and this shows with our vast display of values, beliefs, food and art. We as Australians are truly a lucky people.   I am happy if not downright stoked to be an Australian, even spending a year overseas made me appreciate my country that much more and I couldn't help but be happier to call Australia home.   However I believe that this is not because Australia itself is an amazing country, but because of all the people that define it and the unwavering belief that we can all have a good laugh and be happy no matter where we're from.
