Kirribilli commute

an experience of city and town

Last Sunday, I found myself in someone's garden in Kirribilli not far from the Prime Minister's Sydney residence. I'd arrived there by ferry (as one does). A group of us were having brunch on the lawn - a very civilised affair. Framing the setting was a horizon of trees between us and the harbour and peering over the top was the crown of that much beloved 'coathanger' strapping together the two halves of Sydney.

Tucked in between a couple of buildings along the waterfront is a small path leading from the street to a small ferry wharf. Such a elegant way to commute: a ferry from exclusive Kirribilli to the heard of the city at Circular Quay. A very Sydney, a very Australian experience.
